Emergency back care stretching
by: Peter

Ryan,

At 22 you are way too young to be going through this. Are you overweight, if so really try to lose the weight. I am overweight and I am relly trying to get my weight down to help with the pain.

Treat your own Back by Robin McKenzie is amazing, I have only done the stretches for one day and they have helped immensely. Read the whole book and anwser the diagnosis questions if you get the proper score do the exercises you wont regret it. They have me off of painkillers and back to good quality of life.

I have had back surgery (double discectomy/Lamanectomy). If you can avoid surgery I reccomend avoidance. Once you open pandora's box the back is never the same again.

It's frustrating I know!
by: Steve

Ryan - it's frustrating I know.

It may sound weird, but I really have found that John Sarno's book "Healing Back Pain" really did work for me. (There's a review of it in the "Books on Back Pain" section.)

Give it a read - it may work for you as well (and it's probably the least expensive thing you can try).

Failing that, I've found Bowen Therapy very effective - but rather more expensive!
